Joni writes: "John, Just had to write you and thank you for all the tips I got from your book. We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside and just loved it. We stayed in the Oak Manor which you recommended in your book. We had a view of the pool out one window and a view of the river out the other... The tips in your book saved us so much money." Thanks, Joni, for your generous comments.
Chris writes: "I was wondering can you tell something about the port orleans riverside. If you have pics of the resorts. Which section has the nicest rooms and quite pools. We are 2 families of 4 traveling in may. We each have 2 daughters ages ranging from 8-5. And also what's the best thing on that resort to do. We both have stayed at the coronado springs and caribbean beach. How does this resort compare to them. Once again all your help is so much appreciated. Just sitting back a waiting for those awesome deals to come through." For resort info, click here. This is our favorite resort. We prefer the mansions. Book your room at Oak Manor in Magnolia Bend. See our resort tours for things to do at the resort.
Angie writes: "I am planning a vacation to disneyworld this summer and plan to take my dog along with the family? Do you have any information on the kennels located in the resort? Info like cost, care of pets, and restrictions as far as vaccinations for the animals?" Kennels are located at the Transportation and Ticket Center at the Magic Kingdom and at the entrances to Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Fees: $6 per day and/or $9 per night per animal for Resort guests and $6 per day or $11 per night for those staying off property. You must visit your pets at least once a day. Dog owners must walk their dogs twice daily. Puppies must be walked three times a day. Kennel space is not guaranteed with your reservation. Ask for availability when you book your room. Disney's kennels also accommodate birds, rodents, ferrets, and non-poisonous snakes. Animals must be in a carrier. No exotic animals are allowed. Kennels require cats and dogs to have a vaccination certificate. The document must be signed by a licensed veterinarian. Dogs must be vaccinated for rabies, parvo, DHLP, and Bordetella; cats for rabies and FPRC. Disney has designated certain full hook-up campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for visitors with pets. Disney charges $5.00 per day per site (not per pet). Those staying in pop-up campers and tents must keep their pets in kennels.
Visitors with pets are expected to abide by the following
rules:

Errol writes: "My daughter phoned tonight and said that they both decided to wear bride and groom shirts to Epcot. While having dinner at the English Pub, staff spotted that they were newly married and promptly gave them a free bottle of Champagne and the best seat in the house to watch the Show Illuminations. great stuff." |

Shades of Green, the WDW resort reserved for the military, is owned by the Army's Community and Family Support Center in Alexandria, Va. which also owns resorts in Hawaii, Germany and South Korea. Disney sold the resort to the Army in 1993 for $43 million. Disney still owns the land which it has leased to the Army for 100 years. The 500 workers employed there work for the Army, not Disney. Regina writes: "I read in one of your updates about the Pirate Cruise at the Grand Floridian. Would you please let me know how to make reservations, how far in advance you can make reservations, and the cost for two adults and two children (ages 5 and 7)? ... Thank you for your help. I am really enjoying the updates and book." The Pirate Cruise is for kids only. Children must be potty trained and 3-10 years of age. All visitors, including those staying outside Disney property, can take advantage of the cruise.
"I thought I knew all the tips for saving money at WDW, even being a member of the Magic Kingdom Club for over 15 years, but just learning about [your ticket agent] saved our family over $300.00! Thanks." Janet Handy, Bel Air, MD "Plenty of roadside outfits in Orlando promise discounted tickets, but most of them really want to rope you into a time-share sales pitch in exchange for vouchers - accept at your own risk. [Affordable Disney's ticket agent], though, is legit." The New York Post, November 16, 2004.

Lori writes: "It books up pretty fast and I was able to sweet talk my way into a spot for our little guy! The cost is $24.95 + tax and includes lunch, a story about a true FL pirate, a cruise around the lagoon on their TREASURE HUNT, they get to bring home their treasures and they dress up as little pirates. (There is also a lifeguard who is along on their journey)... Advise people to call early (like Cinderella Breakfast early) and to keep calling back for cancellations." The Pirate Cruise takes place Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 12 noon. Make your reservations 120 days in advance by calling 407/WDW-DINE. Glad you are enjoying the book and newsletter!
