Signs warn visitors about the intensity of the ride. "For safety you should be in good health, and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that can be aggravated by this adventure," one sign on view last year said." The spectacular was the park's "good-night kiss" for years following its premier in 1990 -- until the Disney entertainment wizards crafted "Fantasmic!" which has been captivating guests most nights since 1998. Fantasy in the Sky, familiar to generations of Magic Kingdom visitors who "oohed" and "ahhed" its bursts of color above Cinderella Castle for more than a quarter century beginning in 1975, will be presented at 9 p.m. in a special edition that includes extra dazzling pyrotechnics. "Wishes" fireworks spectacular replaced Fantasy in the Sky in 2003. Meanwhile, Epcot's nighttime spectacular, IllumiNations, will be presented at 10 p.m. Walt Disney World theme park hours on July 4: Magic Kingdom (9 a.m.-12:30 a.m.), Disney-MGM Studios (9 a.m.-10 p.m.), Epcot (9 a.m.-10 p.m.) and Disney's Animal Kingdom (9 a.m.-6 p.m.)." (Source: Walt Disney World Press Release, 06/10/05) -------------------------------- Disney has extended the dates for Star Wars Weekends from June 12 to June 17-19 and June 24-26. -------------------------------- SeaWorld's Discovery Cove celebrates its 5th anniversary. "It's small -- just 34 acres. And it's expensive -- a standard package runs $259 a person but can top $429 a day for a behind-the-scenes, trainer-for-a-day package. Even so, the park is routinely sold out -- attendance is capped at 1,000 visitors a day -- and the wait for a ticket can take several weeks during the busy season." Tokyo DisneySea "Disney Ambassador Hotel at Tokyo Disney Resort will commemorate its fifth anniversary on Thursday, July 7, 2005. To celebrate this event, we have prepared a special menu for a limited time at the restaurants and lounges in the hotel. For your enjoyment, each restaurant has prepared a menu using only the freshest ingredients the season has to offer. You can top it all off by having a classic cinema themed dessert, made to look like film, a film projector, or red carpet that will bring you back to Hollywood circa 1930. The four restaurants and lounges are also giving away 6 original hotel pins featuring your favorite Disney pals. You will receive one pin every time you order from the special menu. The first 500 people to collect all 6 pins will receive a special pin frame in a motif featuring a premier party for a film starring Mickey. We have also prepared darling cakes and breads available only for takeout for your enjoyment at home. There will be an area to take pictures with Mickey and Minnie until next April in the lobby of the hotel." (Source: Press Release, 06/09/05) The anniversary menu will be featured from July 1 to August 31, 2005. -------------------------------- NOTE: Links to newspaper articles change quickly and without notice. "I thought I knew all the tips for saving money at WDW, even being a member of the Magic Kingdom Club for over 15 years, but just learning about [your ticket agent] saved our family over $300.00! Thanks." Janet Handy, Bel Air, MD "Plenty of roadside outfits in Orlando promise discounted tickets, but most of them really want to rope you into a time-share sales pitch in exchange for vouchers - accept at your own risk. [Affordable Disney's ticket agent], though, is legit." The New York Post, November 16, 2004. NEVER overpay again! Join our Disney family today and keep that extra money in YOUR pocket!
Monette writes: "I am a new subscriber and am planning to book a room at the Wilderness Lodge. I was wondering what the chances are of upgrading there during our stay from April 7-11? Is that considered a value season? I haven't found a listing of the value vs. peak seasons anywhere. Are they included on your web site? Also, I need to make sure there are no animals mounted on the walls at the lodge, as my 7-year-old will freak if there are. Do you happen to know? Finally, I am planning to book one of the deluxe resorts mainly because I want super easy and fun transportation to and from the Magic Kingdom for my 1 and a half year old. It will make the trip much more fun (for all of us!) if he has a boat or train to make the back and forth more exciting for him. I did want to make sure there is not typically a long wait for the boat from the hotel to the Magic Kingdom, as that would defeat the purpose. Also, how long is the ride? Thanks for answering my many questions. It is an adventure just getting all this planned, and your tips are making it easier!" WL does have totem poles with carvings on them. I believe they are of Disney characters. Can't remember if there are any animal heads. Deluxe resorts: Peak Season: February 17 - April 16. Chances of an upgrade are slim or none. Yes, that info is in our book. The boat to the MK is slow going, especially during the busy season. The bus can take a while, too. For speed and comfort, try one of the hotels on the monorail line.
