Hi Everyone! Beth, our travel agent, writes: "The new discount codes are out for October - December now. The lowest rate Disney is offering for October at a moderate resort is $84 a night + tax - $94 a night + tax if you don't want to get a special pass. OUR AFFORDABLE DISNEY GROUP RATES are $79 a night + tax - and no special pass is needed! We've had some late cancellations for our October space at Port Orleans Riverside and I'm hoping someone out there wants to take advantage of this offer. The space is available October 7 through the night of the 16th and you can book one night or all ten, but I need to know right away if you're interested so email me TODAY! It's also VERY interesting to note that we are matching the special pass rates for the moderate resorts for our blocks at Port Orleans and Caribbean Beach in November and December - but again, no special pass needed to secure our rates. And here's the biggie: The pass rate for a savannah view room at Animal Kingdom in December is $163 per night. Our Affordable Disney rate is just $145 a night - no special pass purchase necessary! If you've been waiting for a great deal so you could try out a deluxe resort, it doesn't get any better than this!" These are great rates for three of Disney's most popular resorts! Members should log in today for Beth's contact info and take advantage of this great offer. If you're not a member, you can join our Disney family here. Now... Lean back, prop up your feet, and take a Disney break!

News From Around The "World" "In the 1930s, Gatorland founder Owen Godwin, however, gambled that out-of-state visitors would pay to see the exotic lizardlike creatures. Travelers stopped to ogle at the alligator viewing pit he built in the back yard of his Sebring home, then bought alligator key chains and belts as souvenirs... Godwin moved his humble backyard show to a 16-acre site in Kissimmee in 1947... During the years, the attraction added acreage and shows and went through several name changes, finally settling on Gatorland in 1954." Effective August 29, 2004, you must pay in full when you book the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, Disney's Spirit of Aloha and Mickey's Backyard BBQ dinner shows. If you cancel within 48 hours, Disney will refund all of your payment. If your package includes a Dinner Show, you will need to give Disney your credit card number. Disney will charge the cost of the dinner to your card if you don't show up or you fail to cancel. Ariel's Grotto at the Magic Kingdom will be closed for rehab 09/13/04 - 11/11/04. Kim visited WDW in June, 2004. Here is part one of her trip report: "John, I have wanted to send you a trip report of our June trip to WDW for weeks now. I think that I finally have some time to sit down and do it. So here goes. First of all I'd like to tell you that I purchased our passes through Omar on the phone. I purchased them early due to an e-mail from you stating the price of all WDW tickets were to be rising the next day. That info alone saved me money. Then Omar suggested a 5-day park hopper with additional 4-days at the water park, Wide World of Sports, etc. The passes worked great for my husband and my children ages 5 and 9. I decided to purchase [the pass you recommend in your book to get a special rate] on our hotel prices. That worked wonderful. Considering that my husband and I thought that we wouldn't be able to go back to WDW for quite a while, we chose to break up our days with three different hotels on property. We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter first with a rate of $74/night. We stayed there for five nights. (More to come about the hotels that we stayed in) Then we went to Animal Kingdom for 2 nights at $200/night. Then the last hotel was Wilderness Lodge for two nights at a rate of $139/night. Also I'd like to tell you that Beth [your travel agent] is absolutely wonderful!!! She helped us so much. I changed a hotel once and I changed rate codes on the hotels I think twice. Through all of the changes Beth took it in stride. She is truly an asset to you and your customers. THANKS!!!! We loved Port Orleans French Quarter and the Wilderness Lodge the best. The Animal Kingdom was the worst. When my husband initially planned this trip we really wanted to stay at Port Orleans Riverside until you stated that it was under renovation. Then we decided to change to French Quarter. And boy are we glad that we did. It had nothing to do with Riverside, but it had all to do with the French Quarter. The hotel is perfect. The scenery was gorgeous. The plants, trees, etc. were beautiful. While we were there we noticed some painting of the banisters (outside our room, but it was marked everywhere). So they are definitely keeping the place nice. Another reason why we enjoyed the French Quarter was because of the service that we received the first day. My family drove from Illinois straight through (yes, I don't know what we were thinking driving straight through with 5 and 9 year olds, but we managed). Anyway when we arrived it was only 6:00 a.m. and as you know check-in is 3:00 p.m. The first clerk stated that the room wasn't done yet and to check back around 11:00-12:00. Well we waited as long as possible which I think was 10:30 and I went back to the counter to inquire. Again I was told that the room wasn't ready and that we needed to wait until 3:00. I was starting to get a little irritated, but I did realize that was policy, so I left. Well needless to say, around 11:30 my husband and I were both getting extremely tired and the kids were extremely restless. So I told my husband that I would try one more time to get in early. This time I talked to one of the other clerks, told her my sob story and she stated that the normal procedures was to tell people that check in was 3:00, but she would see what she could find. Well in three minutes she had a different room ready for us and gave us the room card. So, yes as you've stated before, if you don't get what you want just keep asking, and eventually someone will help you!!!!! They really do want to please you!!!!" KIM'S TRIP REPORT CONTINUES NEXT WEEK We invite all our readers to share their experiences at WDW or anywhere else in Florida. Email your comments to johngross@affordabledisney.com and we'll be glad to publish them in The Disney News.
