Melissa and her family visited WDW in May, 2004. Here is part three of her trip report: "The first time we visited Disney we did not rent a car so we were stuck on Disney's property. It felt great to just get out and see the city. There's so many things to see and do off Interstate 4 we just couldn't believe it. Buffet restaurants were everywhere with affordable pricing. We ate at Sizzler's, using a coupon I got from floridabrochures.com. The cashier also honored our Orlando Magic card with an additional 10% off (even though she wasn't supposed to). The food was filling, we were stuffed when we left. Right next door was a discounted Disney souvenir store so I dragged my family over there. They also honored the Orlando Magic card (and I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the place). I cleaned up with souvenirs there. I spent $40 total and left with three bags full of goodies. The later it got the busier International Drive became (getting out of the parking lot was hectic). We drove around for a little while to see what else was there because we knew we were definitely coming back to International Drive again!" MELISSA'S TRIP REPORT CONTINUES BELOW
4-Day Park Hopper Pass Special Purchase Get them for $10.00 less than Disney charges at their site! It comes with all the bells and whistles of a normal 4-Day Park Hopper, but it expires 14 days from its first use. However, for people who plan on going just 4 days, it's a great deal. This pass is only available for advance order purchasing. 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Pass Our ticket agent writes: "I have acquired the new Disney 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Pass. It is not sold at the gate or AAA. You get 1 "plus" day for the Water Parks or Pleasure Island. It has no expiration date." You must purchase this pass in advance. So order early! Our agent also has great prices on tickets to other popular attractions in Florida. "I thought I knew all the tips for saving money at WDW, even being a member of the Magic Kingdom Club for over 15 years, but just learning about [your ticket agent] saved our family over $300!!! Thanks." Janet Handy, Bel Air, MD Details on how to purchase these special passes will be provided with your Disney access codes as soon as you join our Disney family.
Melissa's trip report continues: Sunday, May 23 We got up that morning and cancelled the rest of our priority seatings, we decided to save money and eat off of WDW's property. The only thing I regretted was canceling breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, I think I just got caught up in the savings. My daughter, the little princess that she is, would have loved the experience. The good thing is my kids didn't know we were going there so it all worked out anyway. We went to MGM Studios wearing our Disney tee-shirts and we were immediately approached to take a family portrait. The pictures came out lovely so I couldn't resist purchasing a package. We went over to Star Tours and walked right in. The wait was only 5 minutes so we rode it again. It was Star Wars Weekend at MGM. I found that this can be a good thing and a bad thing. It's good if you're not quite a Star Wars fan (which I am a fan of the first 3 episodes but I didn't mind missing out this time) because they keep the attention of the majority of the guests so we were able to get on a lot of rides with little or no waiting. It's a bad thing if you are a true fan of Star Wars because it was extremely crowded wherever they were located. I stayed around long enough to get a great shot of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker fighting on stage during the children's training session. We visited the Jim Henson's Muppet Vision 3-D, which was definitely a kids attraction. The Great Movie Ride was still as wonderful as ever. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set was closed for refurbishing. We finally got to see The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! in its entirety. It rained last time we visited so they had to stop the show. I was a little disappointed with the Backlot Tour, it was shortened to make room for the new stunt show they have coming soon. We skipped the Motor Cars Parade because we taped the whole thing at our last visit. We left for lunch and an afternoon break, then we returned around 6:30 pm for evening entertainment. The 7 pm Beauty & the Beast Show was cancelled for some reason so we missed it for the second time. I heard that you can't do MGM without seeing this show. There's always next time right? My husband's the big thrill seeker of the family so I took the kids for ice cream while he waited in line for the Tower of Terror. We also took this time to visit the Villains Store. I love Disney's villains (Jafar, Ursula, Cruella are my favorites). This was a neat store! I collect themed pens/pencils and mugs, and I found a black mug with all the major villains on it, it's great! We headed back towards Tower of Terror to pick up my husband and then we walked over and waited for The Fantasmic Show. We had an hour and 30 minute wait so we danced and sang to the Disney music they played. We snapped a few silly pictures and we participated in the wave a few times with the crowd (my kids liked that part). Fantasmic was the best experience we've ever had at WDW. The colors were beautiful, the pictures were lovely, the whole experience was just phenomenal. I've never seen my kids so amazed! This show was well worth the wait!" TO BE CONTINUED NEXT WEEK
