Cheryle visited WDW 04/28/04 - 05/05/04: "Hello John, I told you I would e-mail when I got back about my Disney trip with my 6 year old grandson. All in all it was a good trip. I went down sick with a stomach bug. My grandson cried off and on all night long our first night there while trying to sleep. In the morning he said his throat hurt. We were staying at the All Star Sports.I called the front desk which gave me directions to a clinic. Well it turned out he had strep throat. He was given an antibiotic and a steroid for his tonsils to shrink. Well that night we had reservations at Chef Mickey's (I made 60 days before). When I called reservations at Chef Mickey's and told them my dilemma of illness and tried to reschedule for breakfast or dinner I was told they had nothing. We were very disappointed. I let the front desk of the All Sports know and they were able to get us in. This was wonderful because this turned out to be a huge part of the happiness for my grandson. I would highly recommend going to Chef Mickey's . The food is great and the atmosphere is great and fun with all the characters. My grandson got to ride in the front of the Monorail (a 1 car wait, not even 2 minutes long). The days were hot, humid and some days rainy (love those rain capes). Yes they will give you a new one no charge if they rip as my husbands did. But it is all to be looked forward to if you are from the northeast like us. We took advantage of the deal meal tickets in the parks which save you money. A few things about the All Sports itself. Everyone was helpful, cheerful and courteous. The rooms were extremely small but well decorated. Nicely themed. The pools were fun. I must say the beds were too hard to sleep on. The air conditioning was perfect. Oh I almost forgot another important part of our stay there. Well you know my grandson was sick so the next day when we came back to our room we saw some type of card on our table. We opened it up and it was a personalized picture of mickey with the castle behind him. The card read: "Zackari, I hope you are enjoying your stay at Disney." Your friend always "MICKEY." Well my grandson was tickled pink. We lost 2 days due to sickness between both of us but our remainder of the trip was wonderful. Thank you for your wonderful site and all the great suggestions from yourself and other readers. To all may you have a wonderful Disney experience." Sorry you were ill, Cheryle. I've gotten ill at WDW and one winter our son got pneumonia! I'm glad you were able to go to Chef Mickey's and the card from Mickey was a nice touch.

Did you know? President Reagan helped broadcast the opening-day ceremony at Disneyland. In 1984, due to freezing temperatures, Presidential Inaugural festivities honoring President Reagan's re-election were moved to Epcot. Guests wishing to dine at the California Grill or visit the Lounge can now check-in at a podium located on the second floor of the Contemporary. Cast Members will escort guests via an elevator reserved just for them. Guest can view the Magic Kingdom fireworks from this area. The new Artist Palate at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa features casual dining. Todd English's bluezoo at the Dolphin is serving "swordfish and snapper 'dancing' on a circular rotisserie." The first Earl of Sandwich is now open in Downtown Disney Marketplace. Soda is now free on the Disney Cruise Line. Aboard ship, visit the beverage station on Deck 9, and the Topsider Buffet/Beach Blanket Buffet. Get your free soda on land at Cookie's Bar-B-Q and Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay. Beth, our travel agent, writes: The free sodas on DCL might seem insignificant, but they previously charged a hefty fee if you wanted to get the free soda program for the length of your cruise."
