Hi Everyone!

Beth, our travel agent, writes: "Super Soap Weekend, the time when all of your favorite ABC soap stars (yes, even Susan Lucci) descend upon Disney MGM Studios for photos, autographs, and more, is traditionally the first weekend of November; however, for unknown reasons, Disney has announced this year's SSW will be November 13 and 14. Conveniently, Affordable Disney covered BOTH the first AND second weekend of November in the Fall block of space we booked. How's THAT for forethought, huh? :-)

No need to wait for annual pass or Florida resident promotions, or purchase a 7-night package when you only want a few nights. Take advantage of the Affordable Disney block and get over 33% off your room rate, park hopper tickets as short as two days, meal vouchers, and more!

Louise asked us last week about the reputation of Randy's Mobility scooter rental. They rent scooters for $50 less than the competition. This week she writes:

"John, we went to Orlando May 6 - 15 and rented a scooter from Randy's Mobility. They couldn't have been more accommodating! And what a beautiful red scooter. Looked brand new! Worked perfectly! They actually gave us an extra day (brought the scooter on Friday, May 7, at 8:00 AM and picked it up at 4:00 PM on May 14). I heartily recommend their services!"

Are You Suffering Withdrawal From WDW?

You know ... that empty feeling you get when you arrive back home from your vacation at WDW and realize it may be a while before you experience that Disney magic again? We have had that feeling ourselves many times. Yet, we always seem to feel better when we read about the experiences of others who share their trip reports with us. It's almost like being there again.

We invite you, our readers, to send us some feedback about your experiences during your latest vacation at WDW. Reports on Disney weddings, honeymoons, cruises, and resort vacations on and off Disney property are all welcome. Send your email to: johngross@affordabledisney.com . Thanks!

Beth, our travel agent, spent Memorial Day weekend at WDW with her family. She writes:

"We arrived in Orlando about 11:15 Saturday morning and checked into the first hotel. After roaming around a bit we decided to head offsite for lunch. My husband is addicted to Perkins salads, so we went to the Crossroads location and had a nice meal. We then hopped across the street to Downtown Disney and the Ghirardelli Chocolate store where we put my Entertainment coupon for a free hot fudge sundae to use. So my first reminder to everyone is this: Don't forget to check for ONLINE coupons if you're an Entertainment Book person. This particular coupon is available only online, not in the book, and it has to be used within 14 days of printing. The regular price of a hot fudge sundae is $6.50 - a bit pricey for what you get if you ask me; but TWO for that price is a nice deal.

-------------------------

A reminder from John: All Entertainment books are now only $10! Using just one of the book's coupons can pay for the price of the book itself! For details, click here.

-------------------------

My second bit of advice is regarding Pleasure Island. I've been to Disney World more times than I can count, but never to Pleasure Island. I guess it's mostly because I'm not the club-hopping type AND because over the last six years or so I've had a child in tow for nearly every trip. It never seemed to make sense to me to pay all this money to just go in and wander around, so I've always skipped it. With the admissions fees now waived for the summer it seemed the perfect time to check the place out for myself, though.

So after doing several other things (which I'll report on later), we thought we'd pop into DD before heading back to the hotel. Wrong! As far as I know, there wasn't any special concert going on Saturday night, and yet it took nearly 10 minutes in the turn lane just to get into the parking lot. And then for the next 20 minutes (no exaggeration) we drove up and down aisle after aisle looking for a space. It was pushing 10:00 by this time and we were all getting tired, not to mention frustrated. So we left. Advice: If you're staying at a Disney hotel, don't drive there. Take the bus. (Live and learn!)" TO BE CONTINUED

Kelly writes:

"Dear John, Thanks so much for suggesting that we go to your website to plan for our trip to WDW. It provided useful information that made our trip affordable and enjoyable. We rented a limo to and from the airport. This saved us a lot of money on a car we really didn't need. Once we were on the Disney property, everything was there that we needed. Our limo driver stopped at a grocery store, where we purchased 2 cases of water, a cooler, milk (for our 4 year old), and breakfast cereal. We ate breakfast at the hotel only one morning for a total of $23.00. We soon realized how smart we were to get cereal and milk, as one pint of milk for our son was $.99. That alone in four days would have made us poor!

Your website suggested that we do those things along with purchase water. That also was a very smart tip, as bottled water costs $2.50 each. We packed at least 6 bottled waters in our backpack each day to go to the parks. We drank every bottle that we took. The people that your website suggests that we get in touch with, were absolutely delightful. We will continue to visit the website again for updates and new information. Thanks again. You really helped make our stay in Disney magical."
