News From Around The "World" "Disney World officials today announced plans for Phase III of its new Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, adding another 276 units by 2OO7." (Source: Orlando Sentinel, 05/27/04) "The average price for a unit at Saratoga Springs is about $19,000 for a two-bedroom suite, Disney said. "Evening visitors to Downtown Disney can now stroll through Pleasure Island for free under a summertime experiment to lift the fee for entering the 15-year-old nighttime-entertainment complex after dark." The new policy started Sunday and will last all summer. Visitors will still have to pay $21.84 to enter any of the clubs. Visitors cam roam Universal's CityWalk for free, but they must pay $5 to enter a club or buy a party pass for $9.95 to experience all seven CityWalk clubs. Karen wrote us last week about affordable accommodations at WDW for a large party. Beth, our travel agent, adds: "You had a question form a woman that wants to travel next Easter with 5 adults and 3 kids and is worried about being spread out. To your answer I would add this... If you have at least 8 people (ages 3+) in your group then the Grand Gatherings program can help keep you together. Each family can book exactly the sort of package or room-only deal they want, and can even have different arrival and departure days. (There needs to be an overlap, though.) The Grand Gatherings department will assign a number that covers ALL of the reservation numbers in your group. This makes it easier for them to assign you rooms close together, get you dining reservations together, etc. It costs nothing extra to be a Grand Gathering, and there are several activities (like fireworks cruise and special safaris) that are available ONLY to Grand Gatherings groups."

William writes: "Hi john, i just got back from disney world with my two nephews Ryan and Michael. We were there from 4/8/04-4/16/04. we had a very good time. We stayed at all-star movies which was a wonderful place, food was good and our room was very clean. All around the hotel area was kept very clean, grass cut, bushes trimmed, place looked great. We went to the magic kingdom and all the other them parks and everything was beautiful. Parks were all kept clean. Myself and my two nephews Ryan and Michael had a great time and can hardly wait to go back next year. Disney world is surely the happiest place in the world and that's from Ryan (15) and Michael (13) who had a wonderful trip to disney world. Thanks john for all your tips from your newsletter."

It comes with all the bells and whistles of a normal 4-Day Park Hopper, but it expires 14 days from its first use. However, for people who plan on going just 4 days, it's a great deal. This pass is only available for advance order purchasing. 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Pass Our ticket agent writes: "I have acquired the new Disney 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Pass. It is not sold at the gate or AAA. You get 1 "plus" day for the Water Parks or Pleasure Island. It has no expiration date." You must purchase this pass in advance. So order early! Our agent also has great prices on tickets to other popular attractions in Florida. "I thought I knew all the tips for saving money at WDW, even being a member of the Magic Kingdom Club for over 15 years, but just learning about [your ticket agent] saved our family over $300!!! Beth, our travel agent, writes about the Disney Visa: "My advice on the Disney Visa continues to be this: If you're a Disney fanatic and feel the need to have The Mouse in your pocket at all times then get a Disney Visa. (Yes, I do have one myself.) Otherwise, don't get a Disney Visa unless you are hoping for a promotion that will help you out on your upcoming trip plans. If you request it 6 months before you want to go then there's a good chance that you'll have it in hand if and when a deal comes out that will apply to your dates. Be prepared to pay off your balance every month because the interest rate is outrageous. You only get 0% on certain Disney packages (and perhaps a few months at the very beginning on all purchases)! If you're not a person that is good about paying things off monthly, tuck that baby away and don't look at it again until you're thinking about your next Disney trip.
