News From Around The "World" Universal has raised its ticket prices for the second time this year to match Disney's new prices! "Universal raised its ticket prices in January by $2, matching a similar increase earlier that month by SeaWorld Orlando. That brought both parks to $53.95." This second increase of 80 cents raises the price of a one-day adult admission to $54.75 + tax. (Source: Orlando Sentinel, 04/03/04) For the rest of the story, click here. "Universal Studios Florida unwrapped its long-awaited Revenge of the Mummy attraction on Monday, giving a few visitors a sneak peek at the theme park's latest high-tech thrill ride." (Source: Orlando Sentinel, 03/30/04) For the rest of the story, click here. (CAUTION: There are some spoilers in the article. Skip it if you'd rather not know what the ride entails.) Disney raised its tickets prices significantly in March, 2004. Beth, our travel agent, writes: "I've gone over the new prices vs. the old ones and the prices have increased roughly the following amounts: AT THE GATE:
1 day - $3 adult/$2 child ADVANCE PURCHASE:
4 day hopper - $11 adult/$11 child ULTIMATE PRICE HOPPER TICKETS WERE NOT CHANGED, nor were ticket prices for water parks, Disney Quest, Wide World of Sports, FL resident annual passes and Pleasure Island." NOTE: Links to newspaper articles change quickly and without notice. If you receive a "File Not Found" error message, search the newspaper's archives for the story.
4-Day Park Hopper Pass Special Purchase Get them for $9.00 less than Disney charges at their site! It comes with all the bells and whistles of a normal 4-Day Park Hopper, but it expires 14 days from its first use. However, for people who plan on going just 4 days, it's a great deal. This pass is only available for advance order purchasing. 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Pass Our ticket agent writes: "I have acquired the new Disney 4-Day Park Hopper Plus Pass. It is not sold at the gate or AAA. You get 1 "plus" day for the Water Parks or Pleasure Island. It has no expiration date." You must purchase this pass in advance. So order early! "I thought I knew all the tips for saving money at WDW, even being a member of the Magic Kingdom Club for over 15 years, but just learning about [your ticket agent] saved our family over $300!!! Thanks." Janet Handy, Bel Air, MD Details on how to purchase these special passes will be provided with your Disney access codes as soon as you join our Disney family.
Melissa writes: "I have a question for you. My family and I are going to Disney from May 21 through May 27. Our last day there we're leaving in the morning around 9:30am. We took advantage of one of Disney's specials, kids 10 and under get ultimate park hopper tickets and resort stay for free so long as there's one adult per child. So my husband and I paid for our tickets and stay. Disney activates your tickets for the length of your stay (so they will expire midnight 5/27). Since our flight back to Cleveland is in the morning we won't be able to enjoy that last day in the parks. Have you heard of Disney refunding your money if you're not going to use your tickets? I just feel that it's a waste that the tickets will be activated all day and we won't be able to enjoy them (and not to mention the money that we'll also lose)." If you buy your UPH at the resort, Disney can remove the first and/or last day. If you buy in advance, you're stuck.
Are You Suffering Withdrawal From WDW? You know ... that empty feeling you get when you arrive back home from your vacation at WDW and realize it may be a while before you experience that Disney magic again? We have had that feeling ourselves many times. Yet, we always seem to feel better when we read about the experiences of others who share their trip reports with us. It's almost like being there again. We invite you, our readers, to send us some feedback about your experiences during your latest vacation at WDW. Reports on Disney weddings, honeymoons, cruises, and resort vacations on and off Disney property are all welcome. Email us at johngross@affordabledisney.com . Thanks!
Wanda writes: "Can you tell me how [the Epcot Passport] works...I have a 9 and 12 year old I am trying to keep interested while in the World." The Passport resembles a US passport.
