Rick writes:

"Hi John,

I just saw my first "new" newsletter. Great Job!

This last summer we went to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. This was the first trip with the kids and I knew the kids would love Busch Gardens. I checked into rates and figured out a year pass was cheaper than going and buying 3 days. I pre-paid online so the pain of paying was had worn off before we arrived. You get a photo I.D. and easy in-out.

Williamsburg also has an associated water park which had it's year-long pass at the same price as a one-day! Needless to say we did the water park and Busch every day and skipped most of the history!"

Thanks, Rick, for the pat on the back!

Are You Suffering Withdrawal From WDW?

You know ... that empty feeling you get when you arrive back home from your vacation at WDW and realize it may be a while before you experience that Disney magic again? We have had that feeling ourselves many times. Yet, we always seem to feel better when we read about the experiences of others who share their trip reports with us. It's almost like being there again.

We invite you, our readers, to send us some feedback about your experiences during your latest vacation at WDW. Reports on Disney weddings, honeymoons, cruises, and resort vacations on and off Disney property are all welcome. Email us at johngross@affordabledisney.com . Thanks!

Disney Cruise News

Beth, our travel agent, writes:

"I just got back from attending a travel show where I met up with my area Disney sales representative. I asked why I've been unable to book 7-night cruises for May through September, 2005. (Reservations told me they are having scheduling issues.) Well, that's apparently the understatement of the decade! I'm sworn to secrecy on this one, but I'll let a few tidbits slip... The Disney Magic is probably not going to be sailing from Florida next summer! I think that those of you west of the Mississippi will be very pleased.

And one more thing... there's only one logical way for the ship to get from here to there and it takes a long time to do it (probably more than 10 nights). Those trips are called "repositioning" cruises in the industry, and they tend to sell at a discount because most people can't leave for that long, because starting and ending in different places can be expensive as far as flying goes, and in this case those that overcome the first two problems tend to no longer have kids at home so their interest in a Disney ship might be minimal.

In other words, these two trips could be the biggest bargain a Disney ship has ever had! So we're already on a list to get space for the long trip over, as well as a few of the shorter ones in June. Interested?? Drop me a note and I'll keep you updated!

For those of you that have been chanting "new ship, new ship" I'm told that the plans are coming along nicely. The new ship will probably be about 10% larger than the current ones and will have more public areas, more space for adult-only programming, and more cabins that sleep five (or more). Plans do not currently call for a casino. Don't sit around waiting for the new ship, though, because it will be built in Europe so the dollar needs to be much stronger over there before anything is definite."

I fogot to include this article about the Richard Petty Driving Experiences last week in the HTML version!

Beth, our travel agent, writes:

"You can add any of four Richard Petty Driving Experiences to your Disney Travel Company Package. The first gets you three laps around the track as a passenger (professional driver behind the wheel). It's $99 + tax.

The second option is 3 laps with YOU as the driver. (The pro goes along for the ride.) It's $349 + tax.

Option three is 18 laps with you as the driver (and the pro along). You do 8 laps, take a break, and then do 10 laps. The break time is used to asses your skills and tell you how to improve. The cost is $699 + tax.

The final option is the ultimate for all you NASCAR wannabees: 30 laps, done in three 10-lap sessions with a break in between each. The pro is still along as your "co-pilot," but you're in total control. You'll be $1199 + tax poorer, but have the thrill of a lifetime under your belt."

Debbie writes:

"I have purchased 4 day park hopper passes from Maple Leaf upon the recommendation of your guide. I am a little concerned. My tickets arrived and they are small paper tickets. My neighbor just returned from WDW and has these plastic credit card hopper passes. This is our first time going to WDW so I am a little skittish about everything. Have you seen these paper tickets before? Are plastic ones issued at check in?"

When you buy your passes off property, you receive paper passes. Your passes are the same ones I get from Omar. You are fine.

Cynthia writes:

"My family and I are planning a WDW vacation for the week of Thanksgiving, November 20-28, 2004 We chose that week because the kids are out of school. However, we were wondering if that is a good time to go. We are looking to get an annual pass discounted rate, and hope that the crowds would not be too bad. A website I looked at said those dates are in value season, but I'm not sure if that is accurate. I'd sure love your thoughts about it. Thanks for the great book, and newsletter. God bless!"

That's my favorite time - all the Christmas decorations are up and it's the value season!
