The Resurrection9
Buried with tears, the world mourns His absence,
Beyond our touch, unseen by human eyes.
Yet no evil, cruel, clever intent
Can blot from memory His precious name.
Early Sunday morn, His body rises
From its grave, glorious and resplendent.
All the heavenly host behold the sight
And rejoice in His triumph over death.
Angels descend to roll away the stone.
Soldiers set to guard the dead, flee for fear.
The earth rumbles and its Savior bursts forth,
As heaven bathes us in eternal light.
All souls asleep in Abraham's bosom
Are restored to the joy of Paradise.
The powers of hell will never again
defeat those bearing the sign of the cross.
Let those in heaven and on earth exult.
For Jesus, our magnificent Savior,
Has accomplished what He promised to do:
Suffer, die and in three days rise again!

The Ascension10
At the Mount of Olives, where He had wept
For Jerusalem who had refused Him,
And shed tears of blood when He was betrayed,
Jesus spoke to those He loved one last time.
He charged His apostles and disciples
With preaching His gospel to all nations,
Baptizing them in the Trinity's name,
God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
He left them words of advice and comfort:
Despise worldly charms and prepare for the
Coming of the Holy Spirit in fire.
Be strong for I will always be with you.
They will exorcise demons in His name,
Speak the languages of all listeners,
Heal the infirm and raise the dead to life.
Hell's gates will no more prevail against them.
Then He blessed them and looked up to heaven.
Amid trumpet blasts and angelic songs,
His body, now glorified and glowing,
Lifted and disappeared from sight.
Seeing them continue to stare upward,
Grieved by His departure and unable
To follow Him, Our Lord sent two Angels
To console them and send them on their way.
"Men of Galilee, why are you still here?
Go spread the good news of what you have learned.
He will return as you have seen Him leave,
When time comes to an end on Judgment Day."

The Descent of the Holy Spirit
Silent prayers
Rose up like incense to God,
As they prepared, waited, hoped
For the heavenly gift He had promised.
Ten long days since Jesus left them.
Seemed much longer.
Almost prisoners in this house,
Fearful of arrest or worse.
More than a hundred of His followers,
All His church gathered in one room,
Sensed something miraculous in the air,
As if a storm were about to break.
Then an explosion of light from above,
Like a ball of fire.
And a roaring wind,
As the divine broke through the mundane.
Flickering flames of love
Came to rest on His elect,
Filling them with fervor, ardor and passion.
The Spirit of God had arrived!
Sudden enlightenment,
All became clear.
Our Lord's vision now theirs,
To be shared with the world.
Time for action,
Souls to be saved,
Miracles and revelation,
And zeal for the Lord!

The Assumption of Mary11
Rise, My Mother, Your Son is here.
The time for tears is over.
Glorified body, immaculate soul,
I have prepared a table for You.
Come and take possession
Of the rewards of Your Holy life.
Ascend with Me through the clouds,
Beyond the universe, to the portals of Heaven.
Come and enter into the joy of Your Father's house,
My Mother, Our Queen, God's beloved,
Spouse of the Holy Spirit, Full of grace,
Blessed among women.
Lift up, golden gates,
Come forth Angels and Saints,
Take My Mother to Her throne,
Welcome Her into the kingdom.
Do not mourn, My brothers,
For Your Mother is home.
What jubilant cheers ascend from the heavenly court!
They would gladden any son's heart.

The Coronation of Mary12
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
We implore Thee
By Thy noble titles,
Inscribed on the twelve stars
Of the crown Thou didst receive
At Thy heavenly coronation,
To answer our petitions.
Queen of Heaven,
Intercede for us before the throne of God.
Queen of Angels,
Defend us against the evil one.
Queen of Peace,
End our conflicts and bring resolution.
Queen of Martyrs,
Help us bear life's trials in holy submission.
Our Lady of Good Counsel,
Guide Thy pilgrims to Paradise.
Our Lady Mother of Grace,
Give us the strength to follow God's precepts.
Mother of Mercy,
Obtain forgiveness for repentant sinners.
Comforter of the Afflicted,
Console the suffering, the sick and the dying.
Mother of Perpetual Help,
Assist those who seek Thy aid and protection.
Our Lady Help of Christians,
Assist us sinners whose hearts are open to God.
Our Lady of Good Hope,
Obtain every blessing for those who hope in Thee.
Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament,
Increase our devotion to the Holy Eucharist.
Amen. |
