Twinkling Light Show at Pixie Hollow Makes Summer Nights at Disneyland More Magical Than Ever ANAHEIM, Calif. - Summer nights at Disneyland Resort will sparkle with more pixie dust than ever this year as Tinker Bell and her fairy friends unite to create an iridescent light show in their first appearance under the stars, at Pixie Hollow Enchantment. WHAT: Tinker Bell and her friends have been welcoming guests into their Pixie Hollow home, tucked into the glen near the entrance to Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, since fall of 2008. This summer, for the first time, nighttime visitors will find magical surprises at Pixie Hollow and see the nearby pond come to life in twinkling light shows. WHEN: Nightly, at 15 minute intervals, beginning Friday, June 12, and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 23, at Pixie Hollow. THE MAGIC: Pixie dust cascades across the landscape and radiates down into the pond. Even the water becomes enchanted as playful fountains spring to life, pop jets perform with whimsical precision and sparkling strobes shine throughout Pixie Hollow. LUMINOUS COLORS: The dazzling light show features an array of luminous colors, from the deepest blues to brilliant reds to the most marvelous whites. PIXIE MUSIC: The magical score transforms the fairy land after dark and includes all-new songs inspired by the film score from the popular movie, "Tinker Bell" LED LIGHTS: Sparkling, dazzling and twinkling effects are created by 1,000 LED strobe lights that use as much as 50 percent less energy than regular incandescent lights. In addition, the attraction is enhanced by colored LED fixtures both in the landscaped areas and in Pixie Dust Lake. While using less energy, the LED fixtures allow the color of the landscape and water to interact with the music. SHOW DIRECTORS COMMENT: "Everyone will be swept away by the great music and shimmer of pixie dust at Pixie Hollow this summer," said Denny Newell, show director for Pixie Hollow. "This little gem of an addition to Nightastic! combines so many of the elements that make Disneyland the place where dreams come true - great storytelling, cutting-edge technology and, of course, heart." The attraction will reopen later this year in celebration of the 200th anniversary year of Abraham Lincolns birth. The original "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" was created by Walt Disney and his Imagineers for the State of Illinois Pavilion at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair and featured the worlds first fully animated human Audio-Animatronics figure, built by Walt Disney Imagineering. The show, made its Disneyland debut in the Main Street Opera House on July 18, 1965. (Source: Press Release, 02/25/09)
Something New to Celebrate! 'its a small world Returns to Disneyland With New Magic Classic Disneyland Attraction Reopened Feb. 6 With the premiere of a new Spirit of America scene, new musical enhancements, and a new look for some of the attractions familiar child dolls, its a small world will once again take guests of all ages on the happiest cruise that ever sailed. This classic attraction has been renovated and enhanced while retaining the world-renowned charm that holds such a special place in the hearts of Disneyland guests. The its a small world journey continues to celebrate children of the world and their message of harmony and friendship. And now, for the first time, guests will be able to find some of the child dolls dressed as their favorite Disney characters, in the countries where their stories take place. For example, dolls dressed in Aladdin and Jasmine costumes play in the Middle East scene, and a doll dressed as Alice from Alice in Wonderland appears in the Great Britain scene. Guests will enjoy riding its a small world again and again as they search for the 29 Disney and DisneyPixar characters now represented in the attraction. Some appear as child dolls and some are playful-looking toys, such as the White Rabbit who accompanies Alice. The new doll costumes and toys are fashioned in the same artistic style that has made its a small world an icon around the globe. That style was created by art director, color stylist and Disney Legend Mary Blair, whose sense of design shaped its a small world from the very beginning. We know that many people have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to relive their its a small world memories and to create new ones with children, grandchildren and friends, said Disney Imagineer art director Kim Irvine. Its a pleasure to once again offer this beloved attraction to Disneyland guests, now with some special Disney enhancements. * Among the enhancements is a new Spirit of America scene based on original concept art by Disney Legend Mary Blair, in keeping with the its a small world theme that friendship crosses all nations, including the United States. * Child dolls that are costumed as stylized representations of their favorite Disney characters can be spotted in several scenes. * The children in many its a small world scenes will have a variety of new stylized toys to play with, inspired by Disney and DisneyPixar characters: Woody and Jessie for Spirit of America, a Mushu dragon kite for China, The Three Caballeros marionettes for Latin America, and others. * Additional fresh touches will be heard in the augmented its a small world soundtrack. The renowned its a small world song, written by Academy Award®-winning composers Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman (Mary Poppins), will still play throughout the attraction. Now, however, some subtle film music is woven into the song as counterpoint melodies, fitting the characters and scenes. * All of the boats in its a small world are new and designed to evoke the look and feel of boats that children of the world might play with anywhere.
